GO Designer! Get your Website set up by the Weebly Pro's FIND OUT MORE
Image credit: Pikrepo For countless people across the globe, ecommerce is a path to self-determination: an industry that accepts anyone and everyone with the drive to learn what people want to buy and find ways to sell it to them. You don’t need a degree, or an office, or a lot of resources. You just need a laptop and a basic idea of what you can offer — everything beyond that is for you to discover. One of the main reasons why ecommerce is so accessible is that intuitive website-build tools are free and easy to find. If you can’t (or won’t) do the coding yourself, and aren’t willing to hire a developer, then you can go through a straightforward guided setup process and easily create a simple store to meet your requirements. But which system should you use? Weebly is one of the foremost website builders for those new to web design, making it extremely simple to create a website, but is it also a good option for those who want to sell through their sites? Let’s consider it: What are the strengths and weaknesses?Weebly’s strengths for ecommerce are easy to discern: it’s incredibly easy to use, cutting down on the time you need to get started, and it offers a comprehensive range of features including strong SEO tagging, acceptable of the main payment processors, easy Google Analytics integration, support for digital goods, and strong product filtering. Its weakness lies in function customization (aesthetic customization is strong), because the range of ecommerce apps pales in comparison to the ranges of mainstream systems targeting ecommerce. Something like Shopify has the advantage of offering an entire app ecosystem (something that the owners of FringeSport cited as a reason for choosing it), so Weebly is far better viewed as a simple option for simple stores. The range of pricing optionsUsefully, there are several pricing options for Weebly ecommerce. The Pro tier, which is the cheapest, offers a free domain, unlimited storage, and no ads. The most notable omissions are inventory management and item reviews: for those, you’ll need the Business tier, which offers almost all of the remaining features. The last tier, Business Plus, offers a few additional things such as abandoned cart emails and improved shipping discounts. Given how well Weebly fits simple stores, though, I see little reason to go beyond the Business tier — and the Pro tier may be enough for you if you’re selling original products and don’t need inventory management. Should you use Weebly for ecommerce? The answer to this question, then, is actually fairly simple: it depends on your needs. If you aspire to build a grand online store with countless features and a lot of room to grow, then you should opt for one of the more complex systems (Shopify, BigCommerce, even Magento). But if you have modest needs and just want a store that looks good, works well, and doesn’t require much time or money to create and run, then Weebly is a great choice. AUTHOR BIO: Rodney Laws

In the past year, every theme we've released has been really quite quirky, pushing the boundaries of Weebly and modern web design, and as much as we love them we are lacking the more serious theme for businesses.
We've just released a great new theme called Hexagon. This theme is a wonderful combination of modern and professional style. It isn't every day you strike gold. Especially in today's day and age where there is an enormous amount to select from in pretty much anything you go looking for. Well stop looking right this minute, because this unbelievable Weebly theme inspired for Portfolio Websites is like nothing you've ever seen before! We've spent pretty much every waking minute working on this brand new theme so we can show off the new Hybrid Menu we've designed.
This theme is so amazingly cool that you can have a single page scrolling website and a multi page traditional menu all at the same time... I'll say it again in case you didn't catch that... This theme gives you two menu's, one scrolling menu and one traditional menu... You can chose to use them individually or both at the same time.. YES! I said Both at the same time! Not just that, but just look at it... We have tried thinking how to sell this one by writing something big and boring about it. but the whole idea of the Verbena Portfolio Weebly Template is to let the groundbreaking modern design do the talking... You don't need endless paragraphs of words when you use this template... just put a few choice words on the homepage, and let the theme do the rest, this is a surefire way to have your visitors thinking your website was a $5000 bespoke website. This is (in our opinion) the most beautiful Weebly theme we've ever created... Enjoy! |
