If you ever need to access the code files for your theme (the CSS, HTML, jQuery etc) you can do so via the Weebly Code editor. This tool lets you edit your theme within weebly rather than editing a file and re-uploading it. Accessing the raw files for your theme is easy. Just click on the "edit HTML / CSS" button in the "theme" panel of your weebly dashboard. It is as simple as that.. Once you've clicked this button, the code editor will load up and you'll be able to view and edit all of the files for your theme via the panel on the left. Header types are your html files and everything else will sit underneath the "assets" section

One of the things we always recommend, especially if you are planning to make a customization of your Weebly theme, is to take a backup of the theme itself. Please note, we are not talking about taking a backup of your entire website, just the Theme that you've got installed on your Website in the Weebly Dashboard. You may even want to do this if you're using a standard weebly theme. The reason you might want to do this is because, if you are making a custom change to your Theme and are not 100% confident the changes you're making will work, a backup will give you a working version you can revert to if you accidentally cause an issue or break something. It's so much easier to restore to the last known working version than trying to undo any changes you've made. Remember, taking a backup is totally Free, and takes a matter of seconds. If you do it regularly you won't run into frustrations if something goes wrong. Taking an export (or backup) of your Weebly theme couldn't be easier. just follow these two simple steps 1. Go to the code editor Click on Themes > Edit HTML / CSS 2. click "export theme"
The file will then either automatically download to your "downloads" area or you'll be asked where to save the file on your computer.. How to create a weebly 404 error page is a very common question from all weebly users no matter of your level of experience using Weebly.
If you’ve got a Weebly website where you’re constantly updating and managing your website, there is a very high chance you’re going to create pages and rename them to improve SEO at some point, or even create a page that has a shelf life (like a promotional offer or seasonal blog post). It is also important to remember that links in social posts and bookmarked posts can’t be changed, meaning anyone that tries to go to a page that has changed or been deleted via a social network will get the 404 error page. So we decided to write a post on How to create a weebly 404 error page. |
