This in-depth guide is more than just an awesome Weebly Tutorial. We have gone the extra mile to show you how to build a Weebly website. We appreciate this is a lot to read but this tutorial goes into detail of the thinking process behind a website as well as the basic steps of creating a website in the Weebly platform.
There are many reasons for wanting or needing a website. Maybe you want to show off your family photo albums, get your small business online or take your existing website to a new level so that it performs better.
Why don't you take a look at a very in depth weebly review from our friends over at websitetooltester.com. They have spent a lot of time helping users pick the right website builders, themes and more.
Regardless of whether you know how to build a website or not, this in-depth Weebly Tutorial will give you some insights into the professional process and methods that we at Webfire Themes, use when building a new website. We hope, that even if you are a seasoned Weebly user, this guide will be useful, as it explains a lot of the basic information about what you need to do to make your website a success.
If you ever need to access the code files for your theme (the CSS, HTML, jQuery etc) you can do so via the Weebly Code editor. This tool lets you edit your theme within weebly rather than editing a file and re-uploading it.
Accessing the raw files for your theme is easy. Just click on the "edit HTML / CSS" button in the "theme" panel of your weebly dashboard.
It is as simple as that.. Once you've clicked this button, the code editor will load up and you'll be able to view and edit all of the files for your theme via the panel on the left. Header types are your html files and everything else will sit underneath the "assets" section
One of the things we always recommend, especially if you are planning to make a customization of your Weebly theme, is to take a backup of the theme itself.
Please note, we are not talking about taking a backup of your entire website, just the Theme that you've got installed on your Website in the Weebly Dashboard.
You may even want to do this if you're using a standard weebly theme.
The reason you might want to do this is because, if you are making a custom change to your Theme and are not 100% confident the changes you're making will work, a backup will give you a working version you can revert to if you accidentally cause an issue or break something. It's so much easier to restore to the last known working version than trying to undo any changes you've made.
Remember, taking a backup is totally Free, and takes a matter of seconds. If you do it regularly you won't run into frustrations if something goes wrong.
Taking an export (or backup) of your Weebly theme couldn't be easier. just follow these two simple steps
1. Go to the code editor
Click on Themes > Edit HTML / CSS
2. click "export theme"
The file will then either automatically download to your "downloads" area or you'll be asked where to save the file on your computer..
